CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME TREATMENT

Numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain in your hand and wrist can make everyday activities like typing, driving, gripping objects, or sleeping through the night uncomfortable. At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we take the time to understand what's contributing to your symptoms by assessing your neck, shoulder, arm, wrist, and movement patterns. From there, we'll create a personalized treatment plan designed to improve function, reduce discomfort, and help you get back to your daily activities with confidence.
WHAT IS CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME?

The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway on the palm side of your wrist that protects the median nerve and the tendons that move your fingers. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when the median nerve becomes compressed as it travels through this space. Repetitive hand movements, prolonged desk work, vibration tools, pregnancy, and fluid retention can all contribute to increased pressure within the carpal tunnel, leading to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain in the hand and fingers.
COMMON SYMPTOMS WE SEE
-
Numbness or tingling in the thumb, index, middle, or ring fingers
-
Night pain that disrupts sleep
-
Hand weakness or frequently dropping objects
-
Hand clumsiness during everyday tasks

WHY AN ASSESSMENT MATTERS

Not all hand numbness or tingling is caused by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Similar symptoms can also be related to nerve irritation in the neck, shoulder, or elsewhere along the arm. A thorough assessment helps determine what's contributing to your symptoms so we can recommend the most appropriate treatment plan.

Your care begins with a thorough assessment of your neck, shoulder, arm, wrist, and movement patterns to better understand what's contributing to your symptoms. Based on your assessment findings, your treatment plan may include gentle joint mobilizations or chiropractic adjustments when clinically appropriate, targeted soft tissue therapy, nerve flossing exercises, and strengthening exercises designed to improve function and reduce pressure on irritated nerves.
