SINUS TARSI SYNDROME TREATMENT

Persistent pain on the outside of your ankle can make walking on uneven ground, exercising, or standing for long periods uncomfortable. At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we take the time to understand what's contributing to your symptoms so we can develop a treatment plan that's tailored to your needs.
WHAT IS SINUS TARSI SYNDROME?

The sinus tarsi is a small space on the outside of the ankle between the heel bone and the ankle bone. Following an ankle sprain or repeated instability, this area can become irritated and inflamed, leading to ongoing pain and a feeling of instability.
COMMON SYMPTOMS WE SEE
-
Deep ache or sharp pain localized on the outer ankle/foot
-
Pain when walking on uneven ground or pivoting
-
A persistent feeling of ankle instability or 'giving way'
-
Tenderness when pressing directly into the sinus tarsi area
-
Lingering symptoms that persist months after a previous ankle sprain
WHY AN ASSESSMENT MATTERS

Pain on the outside of the ankle isn't always caused by Sinus Tarsi Syndrome. Ligament injuries, tendon conditions, arthritis, or persistent ankle instability can produce similar symptoms. A thorough assessment helps determine what's contributing to your discomfort so we can recommend the most appropriate treatment.
HOW WE TREAT SINUS TARSI SYNDROME AT
