ACHILLES TENDINOPATHY TREATMENT

Pain or stiffness at the back of your ankle can make walking, running, climbing stairs, or exercising uncomfortable. At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we take the time to understand what's contributing to your symptoms before creating a treatment plan that's tailored to your recovery goals.
WHAT IS ACHILLES TENDINOPATHY?

The Achilles tendon connects your calf muscles to your heel bone and helps you walk, run, and jump. Achilles tendinopathy develops when repeated stress exceeds the tendon's ability to recover, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced function. It commonly affects runners and active individuals but can also develop after sudden increases in activity.
COMMON SYMPTOMS WE SEE
-
Sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning
-
Pain that flares up after sitting for long periods
-
Pain after prolonged standing or walking
-
Tenderness at the bottom of the heel or along the arch
-
Stiffness and restricted movement in the foot and ankle
WHY AN ASSESSMENT MATTERS

Pain at the back of the heel isn't always caused by the Achilles tendon. Bursitis, ankle injuries, or other foot conditions can produce similar symptoms. A thorough assessment helps determine what's contributing to your pain so treatment can be focused where it's will be most effective.
