RUNNING INJURY TREATMENT

Whether you're training for your first 5K or preparing for your next marathon, running injuries can interrupt your routine and keep you from doing what you enjoy. At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we take the time to understand what's contributing to your symptoms by assessing your movement patterns, training habits, and biomechanics so we can develop a treatment plan that's tailored to your goals.

WHAT CAUSES RUNNING INJURIES?

Running injuries often develop gradually as a result of repetitive stress rather than a single traumatic event. Factors such as training volume, footwear, muscle imbalances, reduced mobility, running mechanics, and recovery habits can all contribute to injury. Common conditions include IT Band Syndrome, runner's knee, shin splints, Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, and hip injuries.

COMMON â€‹SYMPTOMS WE SEE

  • Pain during or immediately after runs

  • Pain that starts as morning stiffness and worsens with activity

  • Swelling or local warmth around joints

  • Tenderness along the shin, heel, knee, or hip

  • Reduced performance or changes in running form

This group of exercises shown uses resistance bands to help strengthen the muscles involved in hip and leg movement, which can be helpful as part of a rehabilitation program for certain running-related injuries. The exercises can be adjusted based on your strength and mobility. Because the positioning matters, we recommend having our team guide you through it first so you feel confident doing it correctly at home.

WHY AN ASSESSMENT MATTERS

Two runners with the same injury don't always have the same cause. A thorough assessment helps identify the factors contributing to your injury so treatment can be tailored to your body and your training goals.

HOW WE TREAT RUNNING INJURIES AT BAYVIEW NORTH FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC

Your care begins with a thorough assessment of your movement patterns, joints, muscles, and running mechanics to better understand what's contributing to your symptoms. Based on your assessment findings, your treatment plan may include gentle chiropractic adjustments when clinically appropriate, targeted soft tissue therapy, rehabilitative exercises, mobility work, and practical training recommendations to help you recover safely and reduce your risk of future injury. Shockwave Therapy may also be recommended for certain chronic tendon injuries when clinically appropriate.
