THUMB PAIN TREATMENT

Thumb pain can make simple tasks like opening jars, texting, writing, or gripping everyday objects more difficult than they should be. At Bayview North, we take the time to understand what's contributing to your symptoms by assessing your thumb, hand, wrist, and movement patterns. From there, we'll create a personalized treatment plan designed to improve function, reduce discomfort, and help you return to your daily activities more comfortably.

WHAT CAUSES THUMB PAIN?

Thumb pain can develop for many different reasons. Common causes include arthritis at the base of the thumb, tendon conditions such as De Quervain's tenosynovitis, repetitive strain from gripping or texting, and injuries that affect the joints, muscles, or tendons of the thumb and hand. Because several conditions can produce similar symptoms, a thorough assessment is an important part of determining what's contributing to your discomfort and choosing the most appropriate treatment.

Your care begins with a thorough assessment of your thumb, hand, wrist, neck, and movement patterns to better understand what's contributing to your symptoms. Based on your assessment findings, your treatment plan may include gentle joint mobilizations or chiropractic adjustments when clinically appropriate, targeted soft tissue therapy, rehabilitative exercises, and recommendations for splinting or activity modification when appropriate.

Our goal is to improve thumb function, reduce discomfort, and help you return to everyday activities with greater confidence and comfort.
