At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we offer MedX Phototherapy treatment as an optional part of your treatment plan. Scientists have known about the healing power of light for quite some time now, and through advanced research and technological innovation, they have harnessed that power and developed a system to deliver its healing effects for all people. Phototherapy is a term that includes all light, from lasers to light emitting diodes (LED’s). Lasers differ from regular light in that they are coherent and of a single color and wavelength. Its properties allow it to penetrate the skin with no heating effect, damage to the skin or any side effects.

The MedX Phototherapy system uses a low powered, cold-laser. This means that rather than cutting through tissue, it actually stimulates tissue repair through a process known as bio-stimulation. Low-level laser is the application of red and near infrared light to wounds or injuries in order to relieve acute and chronic pain. Phototherapy treatment can be applied directly over site of injury, at muscle insertions, trigger points and nerve roots in order to achieve local, regional and systemic effects. It assists in increasing local blood circulation, increasing nerve and immune system function while reducing local pain, edema and inflammation.
