HERNIATED DISC TREATMENT

A herniated disc can cause pain that affects more than just your back. Depending on the location and severity, it may also lead to pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness that travels into your arms or legs. At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we take the time to understand how your symptoms are affecting your movement and daily activities so we can create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.

WHAT IS A HERNIATED DISC?

Your spinal discs act as cushions between the bones of your spine, helping absorb shock and allow for movement. A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner portion of a disc pushes through a tear in its outer layer. If the disc places pressure on a nearby nerve, it can cause pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness. Herniated discs may develop over time due to age-related changes and repetitive strain, or they can occur after lifting injuries or sudden trauma. Understanding what's contributing to your symptoms is the first step toward finding the most appropriate treatment.

HOW WE TREAT HERNIATED DISCS AT BAYVIEW NORTH FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC

Your care begins with a thorough assessment of your spine, movement patterns, and nerve function to better understand what's contributing to your symptoms. Based on your assessment findings, your treatment plan may include gentle chiropractic adjustments and specialized flexion-distraction therapy to help reduce pressure on the affected disc. Treatment may also include targeted soft tissue therapy, rehabilitative exercises to improve stability and support your spine, and practical home care recommendations to help reduce the likelihood of future flare-ups.
