SCOLIOSIS TREATMENT
in Richmond Hill

Scoliosis can affect more than the appearance of your spine. Depending on the severity and location of the curve, it may contribute to uneven posture, muscle tension, stiffness, or discomfort during everyday activities. At Bayview North Family Chiropractic, we take the time to understand how your spine and movement patterns are affecting you so we can create a treatment approach that fits your needs and goals.
WHAT IS SCOLIOSIS?

Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that can develop during childhood or adolescence, although it can also develop or become more noticeable in adulthood. The spine may curve and rotate, which can affect posture and how the muscles and joints around the spine work together. Some cases have no clear cause, while others may be related to factors such as age-related changes, previous injury, or differences in the way the spine and body are structured.
COMMON SYMPTOMS WE SEE
-
Uneven shoulders or hips
-
One shoulder blade appearing more prominent than the other
-
Changes in posture or spinal alignment
-
Muscle tightness or tension, particularly on one side
-
Back discomfort or stiffness
-
Fatigue or discomfort with prolonged standing or activity

WHY AN ASSESSMENT MATTERS

Not everyone with scoliosis experiences pain, and not all back pain is caused by scoliosis. A thorough assessment helps us understand the shape and movement of your spine, how your muscles and joints are responding to the curve, and whether scoliosis may be contributing to your symptoms. It also helps determine when additional assessment or referral may be appropriate.
HOW WE HELP MANAGE SCOLIOSIS AT BAYVIEW NORTH FAMILY CHIROPRACTIC

Your care begins with a thorough assessment of your spine, posture, mobility, and movement patterns. Treatment is focused on helping you move comfortably and manage the effects of scoliosis rather than trying to “straighten” the spine. Depending on your needs, care may include gentle chiropractic adjustments when clinically appropriate, targeted soft tissue therapy, mobility and strengthening exercises, and personalized advice to support posture, movement, and everyday function.
